Faber Jamerson, PGA
Born and raised in historic Appomattox, he is the son of G.H. Jamerson, Jr. Joyce C. Jamerson. He has two children, a daughter Berkley and a son Jake. He graduated Appomattox County High School in 1995 where he was a 4-year letterman on the high school golf team.
Faber graduated James Madison University in 2001 with a BS degree in Kinesiology. He played for four years on the golf team and became one of only two people to participate in four NCAA Championships. He was elected to the All CAA Conference team twice and also to the All Regional Team 2 times winning one collegiate event thru his career at JMU. After play he was the assistant coach to the men’s and women’s team for two years.
As an amateur he won many local events including three CVIGT titles becoming the first person to win the CVIGT and also the CVJIGT. In 1999 Faber won the Virginia State Open at Ford’s Colony in Williamsburg Va. by a record 8 strokes. He followed that victory with a win in the Middle Atlantic Amateur and was voted as Virginia Player of the Year. As an amateur he participated in many Virginia team events including twice representing Virginia in the USGA State Team Matches finishing runner up twice.
Faber turned professional in 2003 playing the Golden Bear Tour with aspirations of playing the PGA Tour. This dream never materialized and he joined the PGA of America in 2005. This allowed him to still play in many professional tournaments while also working in the business of golf allowing him to be able to give something back to the game that has given him so much.
Faber is a three time Virginia State Open Champion. As mentioned he won in 1999 as an amateur but also in 2006 and 2009. The 2006 victory, his first as a professional, allowed him to become only the second player in history to win the event as an amateur and a professional. The late Chandler Harper, a legend in Virginia golf was the other. He has also won many PGA section titles and was also the runner up in the 2006 National PGA Assistants Championship.
Faber has previously worked at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida as outside supervisor, Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg, Virginia as an Assistant, and Head Golf Professional at Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Virginia. In August 2008, he became the Head Golf Professional/General Manager at Falling River Country Club in Appomattox, Virginia. FRCC has prospered under his leadership and management. Many young golfers have followed his direction. FRCC is proud to have Faber.
